Mawlid also called Mawlid an-Nabawī (المولد النبوي), Milad un-Nabi, Havliye, Donba, Gani, Mawlid al-Nabi al-Sharif (Arabic: مَولِد النَّبِي mawlidu n-nabiyyi, “Birth of the Prophet”, sometimes simply called in colloquial Arabic مولد mawlid, mevlid, mevlit, mulud among other vernacular pronunciations; sometimes ميلاد mīlād) is the observance of the birthday of Islamic prophet Muhammad which is commemorated in Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi is celebrated on the 12th of Rabee Al-Awwal. Rabee Al-Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar. As it is based on the Islamic, lunar calendar, it is celebrated on a different day in the Gregorian Calendar each year. In 2022, it will take place from the 7th-8th October.
