Dr. Seuss is an oft-quoted author that published over 60 books, many of which have been made into films, and have even been studied in university classrooms.
Famed children’s author and illustrator Theodor Seuss Geisel — who wrote under the pen name “Dr. Seuss” — was born on March 2, 1904. The date has been designated “Dr. Seuss Day” in American schools.
Throughout his life, Dr. Seuss wrote uplifting books, despite facing hardships, including a prolonged illness and his first wife’s suicide.
He published his first children’s book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, under the name of Dr. Seuss in 1937.
Next came a string of bestsellers, including The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. His rhymes and characters are beloved by generations of fans.
